ADLG and PML (N) together | Lobbying to influence decision-makers for sustainable Local Governments in Pakistan
Bridging all the stakeholders from government, civil society, and opposition parties to reach a consensus for achieving one agenda to sustain local governments in Pakistan.
On the 14th of September, the Association for Development of Local Governance with the collaboration of the United Cities and Local Governments-Asia Pacific, the Commonwealth Local Government Forum, and the support of the European Union arranged a Lobbying and Advocacy Meeting in Islamabad.
In the meeting, the ADLG leadership arranged to gather representatives from Pakistan’s prominent Political Party; Pakistan Muslim League (N). These PML (N) representatives will influence, lobby, and engage parliamentarians to take steps to maintain the continuity and sustainability of the local government in Pakistan.
The strategy has been formed to engage first-line leadership from PML (N) with the support of the opposition leader, which happens to be from PML (N)… Mr. Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
The meeting agenda covered the discussion about introducing required LG related amendments in the Constitution of Pakistan and permanently include a chapter on the local governments so no one can dissolve or discontinue the local governments unlawfully.
The leadership from PML (N) including Members of National Assembly of Pakistan, Mr. Chaudhary Khalid Warraich, Mr. Azhar Qayyum Nahra, and Mr. Adul Rehman Khan Kanju vividly endorsed efforts of the ADLG for bridging all the stakeholders from government, civil society, and opposition parties to reach a consensus for achieving one agenda to sustain and support local governments in Pakistan.
President, ADLG Mr. Mian Rajan Sultan Pirzada (DC Lodhran), President, LCAP Ms. Fozia Khalid Warraich (DC Toba Tek Singh) briefed participants the efforts of Local Councils Associations in Pakistan to strengthen the environment for sustainable local governments.
Representation from the heads of Municipal Corporations of Rawalpindi & Multan, and District Councils from Chakwal, Lodhran, Jhelum, and Toba Tek Singh participated and committed to sensitize voters to root for local government elections and increase the voter literacy.
Furthermore, ADLG leadership containing Team Leader, Mr. Javed Hasan, CEO, Mr. Anwar Hussain, and Coordinator, Ms. Zaib un Nisa participated in the meeting.

اجلاس میں ، ADLG قیادت نے پاکستان کی ممتاز سیاسی جماعت پاکستان مسلم لیگ (ن) کے نمائندوں کو مدعو کیا، مزکورہ جماعت کے نمائندے پاکستان میں لوکل گورنمنٹس کے تسلسل اور پائیداری کو برقرار رکھنے کے لیے با اثر اقدامات کرنے کے لیے پارلیمنٹیرینز کیساتھ مل کر نیٹورکنگ اور موئژ لابنگ کا لائحہ عمل تشکیل دیں گے۔
اس امر میں مسلم لیگ (ن)کی صف اول کی یہ قیادت اپوزیشن لیڈر جناب میاں شہباز شریف کے تعاون سے حکمت عملی تشکیل دے گی جو لوکل گورنمنٹ انتخابات میں تسلسل اور نظام میں پائیداری کے لیے ہر ممکن اقدام اٹھانے کے لیے کوشاں رہے گی۔
اجلاس کے ایجنڈے میں آئین پاکستان میں لوکل گورنمنٹس سے متعلقہ مطلوبہ ترامیم متعارف کرانے اور مقامی حکومتوں پر مستقل طور پر ایک باب شامل کرنے کی تجاویز پر سیر حاصل گفتگو کی گئی، تاکہ لوکل گورنمنٹس کو لا قانونی طور پر تحلیل نہ کیا جاسکے۔
مسلم لیگ (ن) کی قیادت بشمول رکن قومی اسمبلی پاکستان جناب چودھری خالد وڑائچ ، جناب اظہر قیوم ناہرااور جناب عبدالرحمن خان کانجو نے حکومت ،حزبِ اختلاف، سول سوسائٹی اور دیگر تمام اسٹیک ہولڈرز کو ایک پلیٹ فارم پر یکجا کرنے پر اے ڈی ایل جی کی کوششوں کی واضح حمایت کی۔ ، اور کہا کہ سیاسی جماعتیں پاکستان میں لوکل گورنمنٹس کو پائیدار بنانے کے لیے میثاق جمہوریت کے حصول کے لیے کوششیں جاری رکھیں۔
صدر ، اے ڈی ایل جی جناب میاں راجن سلطان پیرزادہ (ڈی سی لودھراں) ، صدر ، ایل سی اے پی محترمہ فوزیہ خالد وڑائچ (ڈی سی ٹوبہ ٹیک سنگھ) نے پاکستان میں لوکل کونسلز ایسوسی ایشنز کی پائیدار لوکل گورنمنٹس کے لیے موزوں ماحول لانے کی کوششوں پر روشنی ڈالی۔
میونسپل کارپوریشن راولپنڈی ، ملتان ، اور ضلع کونسل چکوال ، لودھراں ، جہلم ، اور ٹوبہ ٹیک سنگھ کے نمائندوں نے حصہ لیا اور ووٹروں کو بلدیاتی انتخابات کے لیے آواز بلند کرنے اور ووٹروں کی انتخابی خواندگی بڑھانے کا عزم کیا۔
دیگر میٹنگ میں ای ڈی ایل گی کی طرف سے ٹعیم لیڈر، جناب جاوید حسن، چیف ایگزیکٹیو آفیسر، جناب انور حسین اور کوارڈینیٹر زیب النسا نے شرکت کی۔
