ToT Training for Staff, Mainstreaming SDGs for LDP, Monitoring & Reporting

In line with the objectives of the programme, to build the capacity of the elected and non-elected local government officials at the district level in both the provinces, a “trainer’s manual” has been developed to train a slot of experts to further conduct trainings at the district level in both provinces.

LEAD for SDGs Localisation in Pakistan Programme conducted Training of Trainers on Mainstreaming SDGs in Local Development Planning, Monitoring and Reporting. Mr. Azhar Saeed, SDGs Expert trained all the staff members from ADLG, LCAS and LCAB offices.

The main purpose of the training is to help the participants acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for the localization of SDGs at the district level and use localized SDGs targets and indicators for district-level development planning, monitoring and reporting.  The object of this training is:

  • To ensure understanding of trainers for identification of SDG targets which are most relevant for local governments.
  • Discuss how SDGs can be used to develop planning and reporting by local governments at the district level.
  • To ensure understanding of trainers for identification of SDG targets which are most relevant for local governments.
  • Discuss how SDGs can be used to develop planning and reporting by local governments at the district level.

Covering the following topics

  • Responsibilities and mandates of local governments in Sindh and Balochistan according to the latest local government acts;
  • Introduction to provincial SDGs frameworks for Sindh and Balochistan;
  • Prioritizing SDGs targets and indicators at the district level;
  • Understanding the process of development of district-level annual development plans (ADPs);
  • Using prioritized SDGs targets and indicators for district-level development planning;
  • Understanding the existing process of monitoring and reporting development schemes and projects;
  • Devising ways and means to use existing capacities at the district level to gather, compile and report SDGs related data; and
  • Understanding local government finances. 

Way Forward

The Master trainers/Staff will further deliver the training at the district level in Sindh and Balochistan covering the participants who will be selected on the bases of district committee notification issued by the Government of Balochistan and Sindh covering the following officials:

  1. District Health Officer
  2. District Education Officer
  3. Deputy Director (LG),
  4. Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department.
  5. Chief Officer Municipal Committee/Corporation
  6. Local CSOs
